Ingredients
- ½ cup basmati rice
- ½ cup split mung bean
- 1 tablespoon ghee or vegetable oil
-
1 packet Moji Masala Kitchari Masala
- 1 cup of vegetables of choice (optional)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups of water (3.5 cups for a soupier consistency)
Directions
- Step 1 Place rice and mung beans in a mixing bowl and rinse 2-3 times, until water runs clear.
- Step 2 Place a medium size pot over medium heat. After one minute add oil followed by contents of MM Kitchari Masala packet. Stir for 10 seconds.
- Step 3 Add rice and bean mixture, vegetables and salt and stir until well-coated with masala mixture.
- Step 4 Add water, turn heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Lower heat to medium-low and cover for 30 minutes, or until rice and beans are tender. Stir occasionally so the kitchari doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
- To Reheat Leftovers: Blend water in to thin out the Kitchari and reheat on low heat.
